Friday and Saturday nights were different at my house growing up. They’re my favorite memory. My dad and I would sit in his office playing through his entire music collection and his own songwriting catalog, studying songs. What was good, what was bad, what we thought could be better. That’s how I learned to write songs. My dad turned down a staff writing deal in Nashville in the 90’s to keep us close to our family and make sure my brother, sister, and I had a healthy childhood. If it wasn’t for his sacrifice, I might not have ever fallen in love with songwriting. My dad is the reason I write songs and make country music. I grew up in the same house as the best songwriter I know, my dad, David Banning. Source: Spotify
